Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM), particularly Type 2, has emerged as a significant global health burden, deeply rooted in modern sedentary lifestyles, dietary shifts, and chronic stress. It is a metabolic disorder characterized by chronic hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. While conventional pharmacological interventions are essential for acute management, they often fail to address the root lifestyle causes and can be associated with long-term side effects and escalating costs. There is a growing imperative to explore holistic, sustainable approaches that empower patients to manage their condition effectively.

This white paper explores the transformative impact of an integrative protocol combining Yoga, Ayurveda, and Naturopathy on the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in outpatient department patients (OPD). Delving into the synergy between these ancient traditional systems, the paper investigates their collective effectiveness in regulating glycemic parameters, improving metabolic functions, and enhancing overall quality of life. A total of 60 diagnosed Type 2 DM cases aged 35-60 were considered randomly from the OPD. They followed a structured 12-weeks integrative protocol comprising specific Yogic practices (Asana, Pranayama), Ayurvedic dietary and herbal support, and Naturopathic treatments.

Through systematic analysis of biochemical parameters, observations indicated that Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS), Postprandial Blood Sugar (PPBS), and Glycated Hemoglobin (HbA1c) were significantly reduced in the participants. This paper aims to provide insights into how incorporating this triad of traditional sciences can contribute to a healthier, more resilient strategy against the diabetespidemic.
